He said that the water of the Indus River is the guarantee of Pakistan’s life. Using sea lanes or water resources as weapons is a dangerous trend for global peace. The world has realized that water resources have become the central issue of global politics and security._x000D_

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that without the restoration of the Indus Water Treaty, lasting peace between Pakistan and India is not possible. The world must understand the seriousness of the threat of weaponizing water. The 21st century may face the threat of water shortages and weaponizing water resources. The international community must formulate new international laws against weaponizing shared waterways. Lest every river, strait, canal and downstream country become a victim of pressure from hegemonic states in the future._x000D_

He said that India’s behavior can set a dangerous example for the entire world. The Indus Water Treaty must be maintained. Pakistan will not compromise on its water rights and the Indus River under any circumstances. Deliberately stopping the supply of water to any country is an existential attack. India’s aim is to harm Pakistan’s water rights. If stopping Pakistan’s water is tantamount to war, then every step towards it cannot be considered a matter of routine. The use of the Indus River as a weapon must be responded to at every forum, including political, diplomatic and legal._x000D_

The Chairman PPP said that Pakistan does not want war but will protect its fundamental interests at all costs. The purpose of Pakistan’s defense capability is to prevent such existential threats. India should not get the impression that it will continue to increase pressure on Pakistan and Pakistan will remain limited to protest. Effective defense is possible only when the opposing side knows what price it will have to pay for crossing the red line. This is not an invitation to panic or adventure. This time demands seriousness, clear strategy and defense of our rights in accordance with international law.
