(Web Desk) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former South African first-class cricketer Michael Smith as the batting coach of the national men’s team on a two-year contract._x000D_

The 46-year-old will work with both the red-ball and white-ball squads and is set to join the team ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming three-match Test series against England, which begins on August 19._x000D_

Smith enjoyed a successful domestic playing career, scoring 7,029 runs across first-class, List A and T20 cricket, including nine centuries and 40 half-centuries._x000D_

A Level 4-qualified coach, Smith has previously served on the coaching staff of three HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises. He has also worked as batting coach for the Hobart Hurricanes and Cricket Tasmania._x000D_

The PCB said Smith’s appointment is part of its efforts to strengthen the national team’s coaching setup ahead of a busy international calendar.
