The US House of Representatives had previously also passed a bill to seek permission from Congress to start a war with Iran. It should be noted that this is the second time that the House of Representatives has passed a resolution of this kind. Last month, the House also passed a similar resolution, which was later passed by the Senate._x000D_

Although the approval of the resolution is considered politically important, its legal status is limited. The Trump administration argues that such war powers resolutions are unconstitutional and that the president, as commander-in-chief, has the authority to make military decisions in matters of national security._x000D_

In the debate before the vote, Greg Max, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said that President Trump has violated US law and constitutional requirements by taking military action against Iran without prior approval from Congress. The resolution was passed at a time when crude oil prices in the global market have exceeded $100 a barrel after Yemen’s Houthis attacked Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.
