Words like Barish, Barkha, Sawan, Megha, Baran, Rum Jhum, Barast and Barshagal have been used by Urdu poets in hundreds if not thousands of their poems to create a romantic atmosphere. Most of the old films made in the subcontinent were not complete without rain and the heroine getting drenched in it and a hero suddenly appearing from somewhere and moving the heroine to a safe place. During such a scene, they would give their hearts to each other. On such occasions, a very beautiful song would also be filmed which would interpret the entire scene in such a charming way that its lyrics along with the scene would be forever imprinted on the minds of the moviegoers. A generation of the past grew up watching such films. Thanks to such films and poetry, a strange kind of romanticism became associated with rain. In this era, perhaps no one would have ever imagined that a time would come when the word rain and barast would change its meaning completely. The manifestation of nature that people call rain of mercy, pray for and wait for with great intensity, will turn into a terrifying monster._x000D_
For the past few years, the rainy season has become a regular nuisance in our beloved country. Now the concept of romance has disappeared with this season and the concept of destruction and devastation has become associated with it. Every year, as soon as the rainy season begins, heartbreaking news from all over the country starts hitting our ears and eyes. The overflowing of rivers in the plains, flooding in the rivers, landslides and cloudbursts in the mountainous areas, incidents of loss of life due to collapse of roofs and walls in rural areas, sewage water entering houses and shops in the cities, deaths due to electrocution and accidents due to slipping on the roads have become a norm. Now, during this season, people are afraid even to go out of their homes and are afraid and scared even while staying inside their homes._x000D_
Nature has played a lesser role in this change in the rainy season, while man’s own shortsightedness and administrative incompetence have played a greater role. Shortsightedness means that the human desire to adapt life to innovation and progress promoted industrialization to such an extent that the temperature of the planet rose above normal, which in turn affected the climate cycle. Glaciers began to melt, there was more rain than usual, and the water level of the oceans began to rise. Administrative incompetence means that man realized this change but could not take sufficient steps to control it. The irony is that the developed countries of the world, which were responsible for the increase in the temperature of the planet, have made their own protective arrangements, but developing and underdeveloped countries are suffering the most from the effects of this unusual heat, and Pakistan is one of these countries. This time too, as the monsoon begins, there have been reports of loss of life and property due to rains, cloudbursts and overflowing rivers and canals. This time too, more than half a dozen people were swept away in the flash floods in Landi Kotal, while a father and son were swept away in Nala Lai in Rawalpindi, while several incidents of roofs and walls of mud houses collapsing have come to light, in which many precious lives have been lost. Every day, there are reports of cloudbursts at some place in the upper reaches, which sweep away houses and settlements like ashes. Roads in cities across the country are presenting a scene of ponds and rivers and canals. News of deaths due to electrocution have also been heard at some places. Floodwaters have destroyed standing crops in rural areas. More than half of this season is left, what happens in the next half, nothing can be said, we can only pray that God protects us from any further damage._x000D_
Governments are making their best efforts to deal with this wrath of the monsoon, in which they are successful to some extent, but the need for such measures is being felt urgently, with the help of which the damage can be completely controlled because in the coming years the situation may get even more out of control._x000D_
Not only the rains, we will have to take emergency measures to deal with the changing mood of all seasons because now no season is the same as in the past. The winter season has started appearing with more intensity than before. In the last few years, the last week of December and the first week of January have taken a very brutal form. The cold becomes so severe that the weak and frail people cannot bear its intensity. This season has now become the biggest cause of death for the elderly. On the other hand, the temperature of the summer season has also gone up by two to three degrees compared to the past. This season also becomes life-threatening for people with weak health. The spring season has almost disappeared. Compared to the past, this season now shows its glory for very few days and let alone autumn. In the season when people are looking forward to enjoying the sight of falling leaves, out of nowhere, the plague called smog comes and engulfs the entire atmosphere, making it impossible for people to breathe. In short, now there is no season that can be associated with any romantic and tender feeling. All the seasons are starting to weigh heavily on us._x000D_
